Perspectives on Anthropocentrism in Contemporary Climate Fiction

Abstract

The aim of this master's thesis is to analyze the portrayal of anthropocentric attitudes in contemporary climate fiction. The first chapter introduces the theoretical and methodological framework, including ecocriticism, Marxist literary theory, and concepts such as human exceptionalism, stewardship, and dystopia. The second chapter examines the influence of capitalism on environmental degradation as reflected in the selected novels. The third chapter focuses on human superiority and the idea of stewardship within narrative contexts. The fourth chapter explores dystopian settings and their role in critiquing anthropocentric ideologies.
