Abstrakt
This bachelor thesis deals with the comparative study of Bram Stoker's Dracula from 1897 and its Czech translation provided by Tomáš Korbař. The paper focuses on cultural transposition with regard to the impact of the time period and social conventions that may have influenced the translation. The first part of the paper describes literary style of Dracula and compares it simultaneously with its American film version directed by F. F. Coppola in 1992. Subsequently, the definitions of the basic theories of translation follow together with the comparative analysis aimed especially at the individual features of lexical and pragmatic equivalence. The paper attempts to prove that cultural transposition is an inseparable part of the area of translation.
