Abstract:
This article is about comparing the regions of V4 according to mortality caused by the most common serious diseases (cardiovascular and oncological diseases) and growing serious diseases mainly due to aging of population (mental diseases). Mortalities are indicators of health quality. The significant differences exist among individual countries of Europe or EU, mainly in case of Western and Eastern part. But the significant differences also exist among regions of these countries. This article is focused on the NUTS 2 regions of V4 countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Hungary). The main aim is to compare the V4 regions according to serious diseases mortality by using hybrid approach which combines multidimensional scaling (MDS) with linear ordering. The data were obtained from Eurostat database.
