dc.description.abstract-translated	One of the parts of the uniquely preserved castle theatre in Český Krumlov is a set of stage decorations ranking among the most precious artefacts of its kind in the world. The decorations were gradually restored with the works beginning in the 50s of the 20th century. In the first phase, the restoration was independent of the rest of the equipment of the theatre, focusing mainly on the appearance of the decorations and using the procedures for restoration of hanging pictures. The functional context was not considered which resulted in changing the unique historical source into a a stale museum exhibit. Finally, at the end of the 80s the concept of restoration of the whole theatre and its equipment changed. The theatre started to be apprehended as a whole, in which every part of the equipment had its own place. The concept of a functional museum brought about a turn in the restoration and presentation of the decorations and, at the same time, a greater respect to their place within such a complicated whole.	eng
