Introduction: Lifelong learning is a responsibility of every healthcare professional, and also indispensable regarding development of modern methods. In the field of safety in health care, education is an option to increase quality continually. It is suitable to combine educational methods and monitor their efficiency. Aim of the study: The aim of this study was to assess whether educational events affect knowledge of participants, and then to assess whether a “bespoke” event is evaluated higher than an educational event with a more general focus. Material and methods: Two educational events for non-medical staff were organized, the numbers of participants being 46 and 30 respectively. The knowledge was measured by pre-tests and a post-tests before and after the educational events. The data were analysed and evaluated using Microsoft Excel and STATISTICA at the significance level 0.05. A paired T-test was utilized. The educational events were subjectively evaluated on a Likert scale. Results: After completion of both educational events the respondents reached higher scores on their tests. The increase of knowledge was statistically proven (p-value > 0.001). The “bespoke” event had a better subjective evaluation. Conclusions: The organized educational events concerning quality and safety increased knowledge of the participants. The goal for the future is to prepare a “bespoke” elearning programme on the basis of determined educational needs. Education is an option how to increase quality and safety in healthcare facilities continually.
