Abstrakt
In 1932, due to the breakdown of international trade, the Czechoslovak economy, which largely depended on export, fell into serious problems. The state could not support the export in any way because of the lack finance. This is why private institutions took some steps to find a solution. A few agricultural companies established the Agricultural Export Institute hoping that the representatives of industry will join them. It is obvious that this was wrong judgement of the situation because there any positive effect. On the contrary, The Trade Chambers and the Union of Enterpreneurs in Industry focused on practice. As a temporary solution, they established the Compensation Centre, an institution whose activities aimed at international tradeů; at least to help basically the exchange of goods for other goods. The founders expected that the Centre's activities should bring a certain profitability, however two years later it was obvious that there was no profit at all. By that time, the political and economical situation had changed and, in a short time, the long expected common Export Institute was established.
