Abstrakt:
František Udržal was, in the end of the 19th century up to the 1930s of the 20th century, a well known Czech politician. He was born in a small village of Dolní Roveň in East Bohemia. His parents, F. and A. Udržal's owned a large farm and this is why they could provide him with the highest education in the field of agricultural science. Their son, however, did not achieve good results at either elementary school, college or the university, He frequently had discipline problems. In the age of 30, however, he was able to realize what his future will be like. He neither wanted to work on his farm, nor to joint the army as a professional officer. He wanted to actively participate in politics, not only in the regional scope but within the whole Austro-Hungarian Empire.
