Semantics of English negative sentences and their Czech counterparts

Abstract

The paper focuses on the semantics of English negative sentences and their Czech counterparts. It deals with negation from linguistic point of view and characterizes language means used to express negative content in English and Czech. The theory deals with types of negative elements and types of negation with respect to both languages. The analysis focuses mainly on negative elements mostly used in English and contrast them both mutually and with Czech.
