Reported Language in the Headline of British Quality and Tabloid Press

Abstract

The thesis aims to analyze the occurrence of the reported language in the headlines of British quality and tabloid press. The theoretical part deals with the differences between the broadsheets and the tabloids and introduces the role and function of the headlines in the press. Special attention is paid to direct and non-direct forms of presentation. The practical part maps the occurrence of the reported language in the headlines with respect to their function and particular attributes.
