Abstrakt
Insulin resistance is a condition where our body is unable to optimally manage the essential nutrients. Insulin loses its efficiency, it leads to hyperglycemia and lipid metabolism is impaired. In acquired insulin resistance is all caused by obesity. The prevalence of obesity is increasing worldwide nowadays. The insulin resistance precedes diabetes mellitus type 2 and other complications associated with both diabetes and obesity. The aim of this work was to measure concentrations of monounsaturated fatty acids and to find out dependencies with insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus type 2. There were analyzed 21 samples of type 2 diabetics plasma and 17 samples of healthy donors plasma. After lipid extraction from plasma, the lipids were separated by thin layer chromatography into individual classes, derivatized and methyl esters of fatty acids were analyzed by gas chromatograph with flame-ionization detector. The largest changes were observed for stearic, oleic, trans-vaccenic and nervonic acid.
