Abstrakt
This bachelor paper's aim is a comparison of two Czech translations of James Thurber's five selected fables and their contrasting to an English version. The first analyzed translation is older, written by Karel Beran in 1948 and the second, modern translation is by Radoslav Nenadál from 1970. The comparison reveals the fact that Beran's translation contains many either minor or major mistakes as he very often uses inadequate or even incorrect equivalents and omits some important facts. The translation by Radoslav Nenadál is more faithful as he enriches his texts by using puns and playing with the language. Nenadál uses his own creativity but still writes in similar style as James Thurber.
