Abstrakt
In the last decades, political philosohpy has renewed its interest in the issue of justice in liberal democratic societies, the main representative of discussion being John Rawls and his work "Theory of Justice". The article discusses the philosophical and theological roots of the current debate of the theory of justice in the main historical periods of European religious and philosophical tradition, mainly focusing on interpreting Plato's and Aristotle's concepts of justice, Jewish and Christian understanding of justice as justification, and idea of the justice in liberalism and communitarianism.
