dc.description.abstract	Predkladaná dizertačná práca skúma fenomén prostitúcie v medzivojnovom Československu na príklade mesta Bratislava a Košice. Prostredníctvom analýzy medicínskych, politických a sociálno-umeleckých diskurzov chceme poukázať na jej vývoj a reflexiu v slovenskej spoločnosti. V súčasnosti dejiny prostitúcie predstavujú aktuálnu témou, ktorou sa zaoberajú historici od staroveku až po 20. storočie. My sme sa zamerali na medzivojnové obdobie, pretože je knižnicou minulej a podstatnej skúsenosti, ktorá má presah do súčasnosti. V roku 1922 bol prijatý aboličný zákon o potieraní pohlavných chorôb, ktorý zmenil dlhodobú paradigmu reglementácie. Verejné domy boli zrušené a prostitútky prestali byť pod policajným a lekárskym dozorom. Aký mal dopad aboličný zákon na ich život a výkon ,,remesla"? V dizertačnej práci ukážeme ako miestne úrady bojovali proti prostitúcii po prijatí zákona 241/ 1922, ako odborníci reflektovali tento problém a ako ho vnímala laická verejnosť a umelci.	slo
dc.description.abstract-translated	During the second decade of the 20th century, after the end the WWI, the phenomenon of prostitution was extended in towns and individually regulated by policies and states. The situation in the new state of Czechoslovakia was influenced by the political and medical discourses in the country, and by the morality of philosophical ideas. The abolishment of prostitution was a popular opinion in society and was presented by president T.G. Masaryk in the 19th and 20th century. He promoted the abolitionism movement. His efforts about abolitionism of prostitution culminated in 1922, when Law No. 241 ?O potírání pohlavních nemocí? (Combatting sexually transmitted diseases) was accepted. The consequences of this policy were fatal, not only for the brothels, but also for the women, who worked in them. Before1922, prostitution was tolerated as a necessary evil by most society. Prostitution was controlled by the state, workers were required to hold health cards and attend regular medical examinations. After the abolitionist law had been accepted, the count of brothels decreased. Prostitution was moved to streets in this period, and was not under control. The state administration was supposed to create shelters for night time workers where they had to be properly educated. This project was unsuccessful for economical reasons. The abolitionism law had a lot defects. The decline of brothels caused prostitutes to move to bars, taverns and cabarets. For example, hotel usage of prostitution increased. The effectiveness of the abolition law was low and the ban of brothels ineffective because the prostitutes used alternative locations for sex. The global development of abolitionism was broken by the war. The Second WorldWar brought a rise of prostitution again. The presented thesis analyses the phenomenon of prostitution in the interwar period in Czechoslovakia on the example of cities Bratislava and Košice. Attention is focused on the political-legal, social and cultural aspects of this multi-layered phenomenon. The primary aim is to develop the research about the phenomenon of prostitution through analysing medical, political, social and art discourses during the interwar period in the Czechoslovakia. Data will be extracted from historical and archival records in Slovakia and Czech Republic. The dissertation thesis will be an interdisciplinary and comparative study focused on prostitution, sexuality and sexually transmitted diseases. A systematic and comprehensive approach to prostitution in the interwar period was underreported in Slovakia. The topic is one of the subject less studied by medical and social history in Slovakia, nevertheless in the Czech Republic, researchers focused on the history of prostitution and created interesting studies. Much of the current literature on prostitution pays particular attention to pornography, art and photography. We focused on the interwar period, because it is a library of past and essential experience that extends to the present.	eng

Oponenti přednesli své posudky, následovala rozprava o kritických připomínkách, jež nebyly zásadní povahy. Doktorandka dokázala na všechny otázky uspokojivě reagovat. Otázky: Jaké bylo hledisko při výběru archivů? Jsou zřetelné rozdíly ve srovnání s českými zeměmi? Hodnocení tematu v evropských souvislostech. Vliv Velké války na prostituci.
