Information Technology: A Way for Supporting Innovation

Abstract

One of the primary factors influencing competitiveness is innovation. A frequent question managers ask is how to support the innovation process and engage people. Managers seek appropriate information technology tools to support and ensure the recruitment and evaluation of innovative proposals from their employees. The aim of this paper is to identify whether using information technology in the form of Enterprise Social Networks positively affects a company’s innovation process. The paper’s methodology is based on comparative qualitative research using a survey conducted in the Czech Republic across business sectors. The results indicate the possible use of modern technologies for more effective business management. The paper discusses the use of the latest trends concerning technologies to help managers effectively encourage innovation processes within the digital economy.
