The black death and its influence on the English society

Abstract

This paper deals with the influence that 14th century plague - the "Black Death" had on medieval English society. Attention is especially given to lifestyle, hygiene customs and changes in socio-economic and cultural spheres. The Black Death is compared with the plague that surged in London in 1665 and it is supported by examples from Daniel Defoe‘s Journal of the Plague Year.
