Abstrakt

This doctoral thesis points out the enormous potential of nanomaterials in bioanalytical applications; it closely describes three preparations of nanomaterials with applicability in therapy and diagnostics. One of the nanomaterials described are hyaluronic acid nanoparticles, where four protocols for reproducible preparation were developed following thorough characterizations. The preparations produce uniform, monodisperse, biocompatible, and biodegradable nanoparticles for drug delivery or therapy with a natural affinity to tumor cells. Another nanomaterial system has been developed for intracellular mRNA delivery to offer a substitute for lipid nanoparticles currently used in modern mRNA vaccines. Nanomaterials have also enormously affected progress in diagnostics. Therefore, this work also presents a developed and optimized method for the extraction and detection of viral RNA using functionalized TiO2 nanotubes. This protocol offers a rapid and sensitive extraction and detection method with the opportunity for automation and miniaturization.
