Minority experience in the works of Hanif Kureishi

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the clash of minor and major cultures in Great Britain with the aim to characterize the Pakistani minority and contrast them with the main topics raised in My Beautiful Laundrette, because the Pakistani family emigrated from Pakistan to Great Britain. In order to emphasize the differences, the situation in Great Britain as well as in Pakistan is analyzed. The analysis is focused mainly on the family and the way they deal with the influence of two cultures and problems connected with living in Great Britain.
