dc.description.abstractBakalářská práce se zabývá naturalistickým literárním dílem, zachycujícím život v chudinských částech New Yorku 19. století. Dále nabízí stručný přehled historie dvou literárních hnutí - realismu a naturalismu, a zároveň přibližuje život a dílo významného naturalistického spisovatele Stephena Cranea. Bakalářská práce se rovněž zaměřuje na dílo tohoto autora – Maggie: Dítě Ulice a na způsob, jakým autor ve svém díle zachytil drsnou realitu chudinského prostředí. Cílem práce je dokázat Craneovo naturalistické pojetí novely, vyjadřující zejména nemožnost člověka uniknout svému osudu a vymanit se z vlivu takových sil, jakými jsou jeho vlastní charakterové vlastnosti nebo prostředí, ve kterém žije.cze
dc.description.abstract-translatedThe bachelor paper is concerned with the naturalistic literary work, depicting the slum life of the late 19th century New York. It offers a brief insight into the history of the two literary movements – realism and naturalism as well as the life and work of an important naturalistic writer Stephen Crane. What is more, the thesis concentrates on the novel of this author - Maggie: A Girl of the Streets and on the way he managed to depict the gruesomeness and brutality of the harsh poorish environment. The aim of the paper is to show Crane’s naturalistic conception of the novel pointing at the impossibility of human beings to escape their predestined fate and to extricate from the influence of forces such as their own nature or the environment in which they live.eng
