dc.description.abstract	This work focuses on the contrasts and similarities between the portrayals of the British and the US characters of a tramp and the tramp cultures in memoirs Down and Out in Paris and London (1933) by George Orwell, and The Road (1907) by Jack London. The integral part of the paper is a subsequent critical assessment of the dominant culture and ideology, which played a substantial role in the establishment and formation of the tramp culture.	eng
