Design of Data Access Architecture Using ORM Framework
(IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), 2023) Majerík, Filip; Borkovcová, Monika
Nowadays, various Object-relational mapping frameworks are becoming a key part of computer system architecture. These frameworks provide developers with relatively easy manipulation of data stored in various database systems, even without knowledge of complex database systems. In this article, we have focused on leveraging the benefits of implementing an ORM framework while minimizing the impact on software performance. The design of an intelligent data intermediate layer is described within this paper. This provides optimized communication between the application layer and subsequently the ORM Framework. At the same time, attempts have been made to extend the layer with an additional caching layer, which however proved to be unhelpful for simple SQL queries.

ECG Hearbeat Classification Based on Multi-scale Convolutional Neural Networks
(Springer Nature Switzerland AG, 2023) Rozinek, Ondřej; Doležel, Petr
Clinical applications require automating ECG signal processing and classification. This paper investigates the impact of multiscale input filtering techniques and feature map blocks on the performance of CNN models for ECG classification. We conducted an ablation study using the AbnormalHeartbeat dataset, with 606 instances of ECG time series divided into five classes. We compared five multiscale input filtering techniques and four multiscale feature map blocks against a base model and non-multiscale input. Results showed that the combination of mean filter for multiscale input and residual connections for multiscale block achieved the highest accuracy of 64.47%. Residual connections were consistently effective across different filtering techniques, highlighting their potential to enhance CNN model performance for ECG classification. These findings can guide the design of future CNN models for ECG classification tasks, with further experimentation needed for optimal combinations in specific applications.

Automated Dataset Enhancement Using GAN for Assessment of Degree of Degradation around Scribe
(IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), 2023) Doležel, Petr; Pakosta, Marek; Rozsívalová, Veronika; Štursa, Dominik
Coil coating is a method of applying an organic coating material to a rolled metal strip substrate in a continuous automated process. It is used to provide a high quality, durable finish to a variety of surfaces. The degradation resistance of coil-coated materials is assessed according to European Standard EN 13523-8 by exposing a coil-coated test specimen to a salt fog at a defined temperature for a defined period of time. After this process, a sample is tested according to the International Organisation for Standardisation ISO 4628 standard to determine the degree of degradation. In this study, a GAN-based technique for automated training set enhancement is proposed to assess the degree of degradation around a scribe. The presented technique is capable of enhancing a manually generated dataset of images with synthetic samples to help refine the performance of the area degradation detector.

Revisiting the Effect of R&D intensity on innovation Performance: An Instrument Variable Approach
(Academic Conferences and Publishing International Limited, 2023) Darfo-Oduro, Raymond Kwame Adane
The literature on innovation performance makes clear the important role of R&D in innovation performance. Studies that have investigated this relationship have generally assessed the effect of R&D investment on innovation performance. It is important to note that innovation performance and R&D investment are known to be closely associated with the possibility of reverse causality. Regressing innovation performance on R&D expenditure therefore poses an important statistical challenge of endogeneity. In the presence of endogeneity regression parameter estimates are biased and inconsistent and therefore hypothesis testing may be misleading. Using data from different sectors of OECD economies sourced from the OECD data base, instrumental variable analysis is conducted through a two stage least square using the number of R&D personnel as instrument. Again, the literature assumes that innovation is an increasing function of R&D. However, considering R&D is combined with other factors, some of which are fixed, the possibility that R&D will experience diminishing returns cannot be overlooked. This means that the dominant linear relationship authors specify in these studies may not be wholly accurate. We captured this effect by modeling a quadratic relationship to reflect the diminishing returns to innovation performance. The findings of the study show that the number of R&D persons exhibit a nonlinear inverted U-shaped relationship with innovation performance. The policy implication of the findings of the study is that R&D activities must be commensurate with the size of other organizational factors to ensure that changes in R&D activities solicit a favourable response from innovation performance.

Circular Activities of Major Norwegian Cities Communicated through their Websites
(Univerzita Hradec Králové, 2023) Munzarová, Simona; Jelínková, Martina; Hoffman, Matthew
The transition to a circular economy entails the creation of new business models, brings new social changes, but also faces a number of challenges and opportunities to meet the goals of sustainable development. The importance of the circular economy has been growing in recent years also at the municipal level, and many large cities are in the phase of transition to a circular city. This paper presents the results of research aimed at identifying the circular activities of selected Norwegian cities, which are communicated through their official websites in order to analyze and evaluate the extent and level of circulation within the implemented activities. The aim is to describe the results of this research, to describe the activities implemented, the level of their communication, the circulation strategies used and to identify examples of good practice for use in other cities. The intention was to obtain at least a general overview of the current state of support for circular activities by municipalities in Norway, i.e. a country with an inspiring approach to the environment. The study shows that all monitored Norwegian cities are dedicated to the concept of circular economy, regardless of their size, the most frequently circularity strategy is Reduce.

Indicators of Sustainable Production in Chemical Enterprises
(AMCA, spol. s r.o., 2023) Vávra, Jan; Vrbická, Tereza
The growing pressure of the public on the sustainable behavior of companies is causing changes in the product portfolio as well as changes in production processes in all industries. The ongoing digitization of business processes facilitates production, helps monitor production processes, and ensures high quality and competitiveness. Chemical production companies are also adapting to the transformation of the industry and, even concerning the rising prices of resources, they are trying to produce sustainably. The sustainability of production and products needs to be monitored through appropriate indicators. Their use and utilization were mapped by qualitative research in a selected chemical company. The dimensions of sustainability were identified according to the triple-bottom-line concept and the key indicators of production sustainability evaluation were verified in them.

Social media and online behaviour among high school and university students
(Slezská univerzita v Opavě, 2023) Kantorová, Kateřina; Klepek, Martin
The purpose of this paper is to describe the behavior of young people in the social media environment. The method chosen for data collection was a questionnaire survey on a representative sample of 1,706 valid respondents from Czech Republic. We used chi-square, analysis of variance, and factor analysis to explain relationships in data. Besides social media popularity ranking, our results showed that the more time respondents spend on the internet, the more social media brands they use. We also inspected the applicability of duplication of a purchase law in the social media context. Data showed that popular modes of communication among students include photos and texts followed by a video. Additionally, we found a similar use of social media among students and their parents. Last, with the use of exploratory factor analysis, we concluded that social media varies according to the content users go to it for, which carries implications for marketing communication strategy.

Selected Multimedia Tools as a Tool to Compare Changes in the Landscape
(IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), 2023) Krátký, Martin; Sedlák, Pavel; Komárková, Jitka; Jech, Jakub
Remote sensing is one of the most widely used methods of acquiring spatial data describing the Earth's surface, which is associated with subsequent data analysis and processing. Most often, the imagery was obtained using an aeroplane or satellite as a sensor carrier, but due to technological advances, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are increasingly used. UAVs provide very-high spatial resolution data. Multimedia tools are essential during the whole processing and visualization procedure. The paper demonstrates that UAV-borne RGB data can be successfully used to detect water surface, bare land and vegetation as key land cover types. Both supervised and unsupervised classification methods are used.

The Importance of Interchange Terminals between Public Transport Subsystems on the Outskirts of City: Case Study Pardubice
(Kaunas University of Technology, 2023) Baran, Filip; Heřmánková, Andrea
The paper focuses on the issue of public transport interchanges on the outskirts of city. Public transport terminals located on the outskirts of cities serve to create nodal points of transport connecting regional and city subsystems of public transport. The construction of new terminals in the existing transport network requires a detailed analysis of the operational concept of all modes of transport to be served by the terminal. In the city of Pardubice (Czech Republic), a new public transport terminal is being considered in the northwest part of the city outside the walking distance from the city centre. Two sites are proposed (Rosice nad Labem and Semtín) adjacent to the railway stations. The Rosice nad Labem site has a better connection to rail transport (2 lines; both long-distance, and regional segment), but no connection to urban public transport. The Semtín site, on the other hand, has a connection to the trolleybus backbone of the urban public transport, but there is only one railway line and only regional segment. It is therefore necessary to assess the situation comprehensively and choose the more suitable from the given locations. The key is to assess the sensibility of interregional transfers to urban transport to reach destinations within the city. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the suitability of the location of considered public transport terminal in the northwest part of the city of Pardubice. The evaluation will be based on traffic assignment methods taking part of four step transport demand modelling.
