Článek se věnuje současnému poddruhu detektivní prózy - americké etnické detektivce. Nejprve nastiňuje definici a vývoj tohoto žánru a tvrdí, že již samotný zakladatel Tony Hillerman patřil zároveň k největším mistrům etnické detektivky. Článek dále analyzuje Hillermanovu tvorbu z hlediska postavy etnického detektiva, obrazu krajiny amerického jihozápadu, včlenění indiánského folklóru, zvyků a tradic a jejich propojení s detektivním syžetem. Dále jsou podobně analyzovány detektivky Hillermanovy dcery Anne, aljašské spisovatelky Dany Stabenowové a černošského autora Waltera Mosleyho, čímž autorka poukazuje na pestrost způsobů zapojení etnického rozměru do detektivní prózy a jeho využití ke společenské kritice. Článek končí poukázáním na kořeny etnické detektivky v tradici společenské kritiky typické i pro tzv. Americkou drsnou školu. |

The paper introduces a contemporary subgenre of crime fiction, the American ethnic crime fiction, and provides its characterization. It claims the writer Tony Hillerman to be both a founder and a master of the subgenre and supports this claim by analyzing several aspects of Hillerman’s crime novels, such as ethnic protagonists, the rich inclusion of Native American lore and the interconnectedness of the ethnic with crime plots. The writings of Anne Hillerman, Dana Stabenow, and Walter Mosley are then discussed within the context of ethnic crime fiction in order to illustrate that although the crime novels share a common denominator, the ethnic detective, they can still vary in the ways and purposes of incorporating the “ethnic” material and their forms of cultural critique. The article concludes by tracing the ethnic crime fiction’s roots to the social criticism of early crime fiction including the American hard-boiled school. |
