This thesis deals with the concept of human activities from Hannah Arendt's point of view. In the author's opinion, there are three basic human activities that make human life on the earth. She divides them into labor, work and action, and collectively calls them vita activa. The aim of this thesis is to show how Arendt characterizes these activities and what importance they have for her. She considers the action to be the most important. The thesis also shows how the position of these activities was changing through ages and which of the activities gained the primary status in modern times and why. The final part of the thesis deals with Heidegger's influence on Arendt's work, and especially on her conception of human being and active life. |
