Cílem této bakalářské práce je podat rozbor tvorby Philipa Larkina a zmapovat tak jeho postoj k suburbanizaci. Úvodní kapitola poskytuje historický a socioekonomický kontext poválečné Británie. Na téma suburbanizace v Larkinově poezii se pohlíží ze dvou hledisek. V první části je rozbor básní zaměřen na suburbanizaci jako na důsledek stále bohatší společnosti, která tak měla možnost kupovat stále větší domy s většími pozemky. Druhá část se zabývá přírodou a venkovem; s rostoucí rozlohou měst se ztrácela nenarušená příroda. Dále je posouzen Larkinův postoj jako takový, který bývá označován za nostalgický. |

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse Philip Larkin's poetry in order to trace the way he depicts suburbia. Prior to the analysis, historical and socio-economic background concerning post-war British society is provided. The topic of suburbia in Larkin's poetry is considered from two perspectives. Firstly, it is seen as a consequence of growing affluence in the post-war society. Secondly, this bachelor thesis focuses on nature and countryside as disappearing due to the outward growth of towns. Then, Larkin's reaction itself is examined and defined as nostalgic. |
