The aim of this Bachelor paper is to investigate Czech equivalent structures of the English passive in Academic text. This work is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. In the theoretical part the English passive structures and the Czech passive structures are introduced. Then, features of the academic style and relation between the style and passive voice with the passive voice are described. The typological differences between the two languages are mentioned and common ways of translating the English passive voice into Czech are discussed. In the practical part the corpus of examples for the analysis is presented, analyzed, discussed and compared with the Czech translation.
