Nowadays, resource allocation and task scheduling are extremely hard problems to solve in project management area. Both problems are of primary interest, because they are crucial in successful current project management. One of the most
common application is press for minimisation of cost or time duration satisfying
condition on available resources, managing project portfolio, multiple inter-project
dependencies and considering other emerging constraints. This paper presents known
approaches for resource allocation and task scheduling with utilization of genetic
algorithms and is organized as follows. As first, a formulation of an example project
management instance problem is specified. Subsequently, the paper presents our new
approaches to project management and accompanied techniques that need to be considered in correct application. Finally, the most important characteristics appearing in real world project management problems are confronted to our work. |
