    The paper deals with mutual relations between competitiveness and globalization process. The impacts of globalization not only on competitiveness of businesses but also regions and states are characterized in this article. As the globalization and the competitiveness are mutually influencing phenomena, the opposed impact of an effort concerning increasing microeconomic and macroeconomic competitiveness on world's economic development is searched in this article as well.

    The purpose of the eGovernment Act is to create optimum conditions for electronic communication both among the public authorities themselves and also between the citizens and the authorities. The purpose is not to make only some agendas or some stages of the processes in the public administration sector electronic but to offer a comprehensive solution to all the agendas performed by bodies of public administration. There is necessary to evaluate the new services and IT processes by help of suitable measures.

    Geoinformation technologies help to identify movement barriers for physically impaired people

    Today, a strong attention is paid to removing all barriers for impaired people. Utilization of GIS and spatial analyses to identify barriers for physically impaired people in the city of Pardubice (Czech Republic) is described in the paper. All steps of the study are described. Data collection, treatment and verification were parts of the first step. Then, database queries, proximity analyses and network analyses were used to analyze them, find barriers and evaluate friendliness of the city environment for people with physical impairment.

    Modelování konkurenceschopnosti regionů v podmínkách globalizace

    The article analyzes regional competitiveness with the utilization of nonhierarchical cluster analyzes. Used indicators for the definition of regional competitiveness, both on the national level and on the regional level - NUTS 2 Cohesion region are presented. For the creation of the model six indicators defined on the NUTS 2 regions in selected "new" European Union member states have been selected. The created model allows for deeper and more complex view on the grouped regions according to the selected indicators between NUTS 2 regions in various countries.

    Paper analyses the corruption by means of an index of corruption perception. The Czech Republic and Slovak Republic are from the beginning of transformation process evaluated not very positively. The Governmental Strategy for the Fight against Corruption during 2006 – 2011 and set the principles of the battle against corruption aiming to withdraw the main causes of corruption.

    Authors focus on the role of tertiary education in the globalized world economy, especially in the process of economic growth and development. The OECD countries are used as a statistical sample and basic cross-country analysis has been carried out. Consequently, the Czech Republic, Germany, Japan, and the United States have been chosen for a deeper regression analysis of relationship between economic growth and tertiary education.

    Most innovations fail, and companies, that don´t innovate, die. Open Innovation is new approach of what to do with ideas or problems, it exploits possibilities of the open system. That assumes that firms can and should use external ideas as well as internal ideas, external solutions as well as internal solutions, and internal and external paths to market, as the firms look to advance their technology or realize potential value of ideas or problem solutions.
