The information systems are most often realised by means of database software. The database systems make increased demands on users which have to know the data model principles. There is a question which form of the modelling approach and which software modelling tool should be selected by a user / manager - whether a standard data modelling approach or a object approach. This contribution summarizes some results of the University of Pardubice projects FG462024 and PR461006, which the students FES were involved in.
