Diplomová práce analyzuje počátky sikhismu v kontextu dobových indických náboženských tradic. První kapitola se zabývá prameny informací o životě a tvorbě Gurúa Nanáka, které jsou dostupné pro účely badatelského výzkumu. Druhá kapitola pojednává o různých aspektech nauk devocionálních tradic uctívačů boha Višnua a třetí kapitola se soustředí na náboženské poselství známých duchovních učitelů a básníků označovaných jako santové. Příběh Nánakova života, jeho údajné osobní náboženské zkušenosti a jeho cest, je stručně vylíčen v kapitole čtvrté. Cílem páté kapitoly je prozkoumat Nánakovo pojetí božství, šestá kapitola se zaměřuje na analýzu Nánakova učení o vztahu člověka k Bohu. Nánakův přístup k tradičním institucím je zhodnocen v sedmé kapitole. Osmá kapitola nabízí stručný nástin filosofie a praxe následovníků asketické tradice známé jako náthjóga a v deváté kapitole je věnována zvláštní pozornost rozmanitým formám přítomnosti islámu v Indii. V závěrečné kapitole je vylíčen proces formování stěžejního sikhského písma zvaného Gurú Granth Sáhib. |

This thesis provides an analysis of the origins of Sikhism within the scope of Indian religious context. Chapter 1 is considered with the sources of information about life and poetry of Guru Nanak which are available for purposes of any scholarly research. Chapter 2 deals with various aspects of teachings of devotional traditions of worshipers of the god Vishnu and Chapter 3 focuses on the religious message of notable spiritual teachers and poets called the Sant. The story of life of Guru Nanak, his alleged personal religious experience and his travels is, briefly outlined in Chapter 4. The object of inquiry undertaken in Chapter 5 is that of rendering Nanak's conception of divinity and Chapter 6 is focused on analysis of Nanak's teaching of the relationship between man and God. Nanak's attitude to traditional institutions shaping Indian religious lifestyle are considered in Chapter 7. Chapter 8 gives a brief account of the philosophy and practices followed by the adherents of ascetic tradition know as Nathyoga and the large-scale forms of presence of Islam in India has been given a separate treatment in Chapter 9. The final chapter depicts the process of making of essential Sikh scripture called Guru Granth Sahib. |
