dc.description.abstract	Cílem této bakalářské práce je vylíčení zkušenosti průkopníků v knize Moje Antonie od Willy Cather. V první části bakalářské práce je představen region Velkých planin s důrazem na místní počasí a další charakteristiky tohoto regionu, které ovlivňovaly život tamních obyvatel. Další část se věnuje skupinám imigrantů a jejich adaptaci. V analytické části je podrobněji popsán způsob osídlení české rodiny Shimerdů. Poslední část práce se zaměřuje na koncept tzv. "hired girls". Dále jsou vytyčeny rozdíly mezi těmito dívkami a dívkami americkými.	cze
dc.description.abstract-translated	The main purpose of this thesis is to depict the pioneer experience in Willa Cather's My Ántonia. In the first part of the thesis the region of the Great Plains is introduced, focusing on weather conditions and other characteristics of this region, which influenced life of local inhabitants. The next part focuses on immigrant groups and their assimilation. In the analytical part the settlement of the Bohemian family the Shimerdas is closely depicted. The last part of the thesis pays attention to the concept of the 'hired girls' and the comparison of these girls and the American girls, is carried out.	eng
