dc.description.abstract-translatedRailway steels are subjected to specific degradation mechanism due to combination of rolling contact loading and adhesive wearing. Precise evaluation of the surface layer's mechanical parameters is necessary for a service life prediction. Very low depth of localized dislocation hardening process doesn´t allow the standard mechanical testing. The operational degradation of surface layers due to a rolling contact process was simulated by a special testing rig. In the presented study, the rolling contact fatigue resistance of Hadfield steel was tested in two states – with and without explosive hardening. A specific limited state based on cumulative depletion of plasticity was achieved. Adhesive resistance of weld deposits was evaluated as an estimation of the operational durability of selected renovation technologies.eng
