dc.description.abstract-translatedA requirement to have an understanding of a building component as a prerequisite of its care is derived from the defined specifics of the work of art and is determined in the form of competences, with the emphasis on the necessity of a complex view of structural monuments.There we can find imperfections of activities conducted by such key professionals as restorers and conservation specialists. A few recent problematic cases are stated. Education is a decisive factor in acquiring the competences. There are several comments on the requirements relating to the interdisciplinary nature of the care of historic structures.The purpose of the survey is to draw our attention to the topic, define the problem, outline a basic framework of arguments and offer solutions to the problem.eng
