dc.description.abstract	Ve své práci jsem komplexně analyzoval spojitosti komiksové série Sandman od Neila Gaimana s mytologií, literaturou a moderní západní kulturou. Jejím centrem bylo srovnání postav série s jejich "reálnými" protějšky, popis jejich výskytu v kultuře a základních atributů. Téma jsem pojal z hlediska mytologické komparatistiky a Sandmanovi připsal mýtotvorný podtext s výrazně postmoderním přesahem. Popsal jsem literární, etickou i filosofickou stránku díla a jeho propojení či návaznost s Jungovou teorií kolektivního nevědomí. Sérii osobně chápu jako iniciační příběh, své předpoklady jsem postavil na mytologií se zabývajících studiích J. Campbella.	cze
dc.description.abstract-translated	My work is a complex analysis of the nexus between Neil Gaiman's 'The Sandman' series and mythology, literature and modern western culture. I compared Gaiman's characters with their more or less 'real' counterparts, their appearance in culture and their basic attributes. In tackling this theme I took the viewpoint of a comparatist of mythologies and ascribed to The Sandman a mythogenetic subtext with a significant post-modern overlap. I described the philosophical, ethical and literal side of the works and its interconnection with C. G. Jung's theory of the collective unconscious. I personally understand The Sandman series as an initiatory tale, this premise is founded on the work of J. Campbell.	eng
