dc.description.abstractTato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na vývoj patriotismu ve Velké Británii a na jeho funkci, která může ovlivňovat dění současné doby. V úvodní části je nastíněn pojem patriotismus ve své základní podobě a vysvětleno, proč je v této problematice nezbytné zabývat se historickými prvky. Ve druhé kapitole je analyzován historický vývoj patriotismu, s důrazem na prvky, které ovlivňují jeho vzestup a úpadek. Další kapitole je představeno dílo George Orwella The Lion and the Unicorn a analyzováno tak, aby bylo zjištěno, proč se autor dovolává patriotismu a jakým způsobem ho chce vzbudit ve veřejnosti. Čtvrtá kapitola se věnuje pojetí patriotismu v moderní době za přispění analýzy projevu Gordona Browna. Úvodem této části je objasněn pojem Britishness a problematika národní identity a multikulturalismu, závěr pak na základě výzkumů dokladuje cítění a smýšlení Britů v oblasti patriotismu. V závěru této práce jsou shrnuty prvky, které patriotismus formují, ovlivňují a které způsobují jeho zásadní význam.cze
dc.description.abstract-translatedThis bachelor work was aimed at the development of patriotism in Great Britain and its function influencing the British society nowadays. The introductory part focused on defining the term patriotism in its elementary sense and explaining the reasons for the necessity of dealing with the historical features. The second chapter analysis the historical perspective of patriotism with the stress on features that influence its rise and fall. The next chapter introduced George Orwell´s essay The Lion and the Unicorn and analysed it in order to find out the reasons for calling for patriotism and to discover how the spirit of the nation can be increased. The fourth chapter includes the understanding patriotism in modern times and analyses one of Gordon Brown´s speeches. This chapter starts with clarifying the terms concerning Britishness, national identity and multiculturalism, while it ends with proving the British sentiment regarding patriotism based on the results of independent research. Final part of this paper summarizes the features that help to form and influence patriotism and what causes its crucial importance.cze
