dc.description.abstract-translated	This thesis focuses on two core objectives: exploring the data needs of organizations and improving query response times in relational databases using PostgreSQL. It begins by identifying common organizational requirements such as scalability, data integrity, real-time access, and efficient query execution. These needs form the basis for evaluating how query optimization techniques can enhance database performance. The research investigates and applies established methods, including indexing (B+-tree, multi-column), query rewriting, and partitioning, across three experimental scenarios: small datasets, poorly structured databases, and well-structured schemas. A simulated public administration system was used to generate realistic test data and queries. Visualizations and performance metrics were used to measure improvements in execution time and rows scanned. Findings demonstrate that effective optimization strategies can significantly reduce query latency, particularly in large and well-structured databases. The study concludes that aligning query design and optimization with organizational data needs is key to building responsive, efficient, and scalable data systems.	eng
