Problem of the Second Generation in Amy Tan's The Joy Luck Club

Abstract

The thesis deals with the second generation in Amy Tan's The Joy Luck Club. It primarily analyses the problem of the second generation in terms of assimilation, ethnicitz and identity. The thesis is also focused on the conflict between the first and the second generation, and it attempts to describe the reasons behind it. Furthermore, it is concerned with the history of Chinese American literature and it briefly explores immigration.
