The habilitation thesis deals with the two hot topics which significantly contribute to the research and applications development of low phonon energy glasses and thin films in the field of photonics. The first part is focused on the results obtained within the area of integrated photonics for optical detection exploiting amorphous chalcogenides. The second part describes author´s main achievements in the domain of glasses and thin films with significant photoluminescence properties.en
