Článekpeer-reviewedpublished Otevřený přístup Benefits of logistics centres categorization(Univerzita Pardubice, 2008) Babic, Darko; Ivakovic, Morana; Průša, PetrThe process of globalization influenced multinational companies' production concentration into fewer locations. Market has demanded a new global logistics strategy. Since the end of 1980s global firms have been steadily reducing their number of national warehouses, consolidating them into regional distribution centres that serve a much wider geographical area. Logistics centers are challenged to otfer market a competitive and high quality categories of functions, enlarge their profitability, and limit environmental interference of their activities. ln this paper it is proposed a division of logistic centers in multiple categories, namely, starting from the realistic situation where the logistic centers stand today, imposes the need to explore the fort and consistent criteria for their categorization. The aim of the research is to determine logistics centres concept pointing at their need for categorization and to point out or to frame the benefits of logistics centre categorization. Conclusion of proposed article will be analysis of logistics centre benefits which will certainly atfect the change in the structure and organization of logistic centres that by improving the quality of operations and services achieve market competitive advantage.Článekpeer-reviewedpublished Otevřený přístup Railway station evaluation for systematic train forming on the railway network(Univerzita Pardubice, 2008) Čamaj, Juraj; Gašparík, JozefPaper submitted the evaluation of the railway stations by the multi criterions evaluation. The resulting indicator is characterized station as weight point in the valuation graph. The evaluation of stations is a very important element in determining investment in technical equipment stations using technology for time-discrete train formation on railway network.Článekpeer-reviewedpublished Otevřený přístup Optimisation of usage of storage space(Univerzita Pardubice, 2008) Koziol, JaroslavThis paper deals with loading problems and optimization of usage of loading space. It is impossible to solve the Bin Packing problem with exact methods. Heuristic methods provide no quality solutions or they are not generally applicable due to their specializations. New approach for solving the Bin Packing Problem is designed so. It allows achieving good-quality solutions and the significant expansion of the problem model by practical restrictive conditions with use of machine learning.Článekpeer-reviewedpublished Otevřený přístup Transport operations as a part of supply chain management based on the Quick Response method(Univerzita Pardubice, 2008) Branská, LenkaCompanies' tendency to base the competitive advantage on speed and flexibility of satisfying the customers' needs lead to inter-company linkage of material flows and establishing of supply chains. To increase their efficiency, it is then possible to realize supply chain management on the basis of the Quick Response method. This shall allow radical increase of the value provided to the customers, and that is without automatic pressure on cost increase. QR-based realization of supplies undoubtedly requires adjusting of the primary processes which directly participate in providing the value (sale, production and purchase). It is, however, necessary to adjust also other processes, i.e. those that support the value-creating process. One of the processes the efficiency of which pivotally affects successfulness of the value-creating process is transport. Application of the QR method invokes changes in realization of transport operations under own company transport but it may also significantly affect the way of business relations setting with transport intermediaries (as agent, broker) or, as the case may be, with the independent forwarding companies themselves. Their involvement in the QR-based supply chain management must, however, be such that it would make the value increase not only for the company but to the both partners. The article describes impacts of the Quick Response method application in the company in realization of transport operations.Článekpeer-reviewedpublished Otevřený přístup New trends of postal services developments(Univerzita Pardubice, 2008) Švadlenka, Libor; Cempírková, EvaThis article is about new trends which are traceable on postal markets and which will probably influence future development. It considers trends in e-substitution, parcel and express market, competition and also on Czech postal market. E-substitution - new trend which means that traditional forms of mailing and postal services will be substituted by one of electronic forms of communication. But, this replacement has its own Irontiers- classic mail will be never wholly replaced by e-mail, in future we are more likely awaiting cooperationor complementation between these two streams. Parcels and express services are not affected by e-substitution and in future will still constitute opportunities for competition. Competition on all EU markets (including Czech republic) will grow and will make all operators to find how to spare costs. Situation on Czech postal is similar with situation in other EU states.Substitution effect between classic letters and electronic communication can be also observed. The decrease of volume of traditional post letters is connected with increasing ownership of mobile phones in Czech Republic. Development of Czech economy causes that customers demand more often more postal products of higher class.Článekpeer-reviewedpublished Otevřený přístup Benchmarking in logistic centres' environment(Univerzita Pardubice, 2008) Kampf, Rudolf; Roudná, JanaThis paper deals with topic the benchmarking in logistic centres' environment The benchmarkingtest should help to logistic centres with gaining objective data, which are necessary formaking strategie decisions.General strategy of the company intluences singnificantly choice of key indicators of the performance, which we want to measure.Setting the right indicators is not easy, because the unsuitable choice can cause that gained frame of the company (Iogistic centre) is not right. In the paper there are used fractiles for setting the company's position, in the concrete the median, which is basic type of the fractiles.Článekpeer-reviewedpublished Otevřený přístup Affecting factors of transport demand(Univerzita Pardubice, 2008) Ježek, Jindřich; Pojkarová, KateřinaManager of transport company must take into consideration many factors, which take effect on transport demand. These factors are physical characteristics of transporting things (goods), price, income level, relative price of other transfer services, speed of service, quality of the service, taste or preference to demand the service. Effect of these factors could be simulated by transport demand elasticity.Článekpeer-reviewedpublished Otevřený přístup Survey of possible approaches to price elasticity in public passanger transport(Univerzita Pardubice, 2008) Běla, Radek; Melichar, Vlastimil; Roudná, JanaThis article summarises price elasticity and cross-elasticity for use in public transit planning, it describes elasticity and how they are used and shortly examines previous researeh on transit elaslicity. Price elasticity can be used to predict the ridership and revenue effects of changes in transit fares, they are used in modelling and predicting how changes in transit services will affect vehicle traffic volumes and pollution emissions and they can help evaluated the impacts and benefits of mobility management strategies such as new transit services, road tolls and parking fees. An important conclusion of this small research is that no single transit elasticity value applies in all situations: various factors affect price elasticity including type of user and trip, geographic conditions and time period. Commonly used transit elasticity values primarily reflects short- and medium-run impacts. The resulting elaslicity values may be appropriate for predicting how a change in transit fares or service will affect next year's ridership and revenue, but long-run elasticity values are more appropriate for strategic planning.Článekpeer-reviewedpublished Otevřený přístup Capacity of railway lines in context of present and future situation(Univerzita Pardubice, 2008) Bulíček, Josef; Mojžíš, VlastislavThe paper deals with actual question of estimation of capacity of railway lines. The basic principles of state-of-art methodologies are also mentioned in the paper. The situation is iIIustrated on the case studies. The possible capacity effects of implementation of high speed trains are also mentioned as well as the questions of capacity of sburban line segments.Článekpeer-reviewedpublished Otevřený přístup Suggested optimal number and location of freight transport centres(Univerzita Pardubice, 2008) Široký, Jaromír; Cempírek, Václav; Nachtigall, Petr; Slivoně, MiroslavAuthors in this paper describe the cente of freight transport, their characteristics and function in logistics. Main of paper is the optimalization and location of centres. For the solution of this problem has been used the genethic algorithms.
