Estimation of uncert ainity of the ICP AES determination of selected metals in inland waters
(Univerzita Pardubice, 2006) Chochorek, Aneta; Bobrowski, Andrzej; Mocák, Jan
Determination of basic metrological characteristics and estimation of the combined uncertainty and expanded uncertainty of the results of the ICP AES determination of ten metals (Zn, Cr, Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, Fe, Mn, Mg and Ca) commonly present in inland waters were performed. Special attention was given to the assessment, which uncertainty components play a dominant role in the overall determination process (from sampling up to the presentation of results), and particularly, in the ICP AES calibration and measurement. The largest contribution to the combined uncertainty of the final analytical result in all ten analytical determinations was found from the sampling procedure.

Recent advances in ring transformation of five-membered heterocycles
(Univerzita Pardubice, 2006) Hejtmánková, Ludmila; Sedlák, Miloš
Ring transformations of heterocyclic rings by temporary opening and subsequent closure to a new molecule are of particular interest both synthetically and theoretically. Only rearrangement of five-membered heterocycles are discussed and reviewed. These transformations are classified into four groups: (a) "classical ring transformations", where the starting and resulting ring system is of the same size, but the heteroatoms and/or their positions have been changed: (b) "degenerate ring transformations" where during the course of the transformation the starting compound and product have the same ring system, but the reaction proceeds by a ring opening and subsequent ring closure process: (c) "ring contractions" and "ring expansions" where the sizes of the product rings are smaller or larger, respectively, than those of the starting compound, and (d) "pseudo ring transformations" or "ring-chain transfer", where the process is formally a ring transformation, but is realised by a ring closure of a side chain of the starting heterocycle and opening of the orirignal ring. Reaction mechanism of the most interesting ring transformations are also discussed.

    Fe3O4-modified thick film carbon-based amperometric oxidase-biosensor
(Univerzita Pardubice, 2006) Waryo, Tesfaye T.; Begić, Sabina; Turkusić, Emir; Vytřas, Karel; Kalcher, Kurt
An amperometric biosensor was developed from screen printed carbon electrodes modified with magnetite as the transducer element and Nafion-entrapped glucose-oxidase as the bio-recognition layer, cast by drop-evaporation. In a flowing stream of phosphate buffer (pH 7.5/0.05M), at a working potential of-125mV vs. Ag/AgCl with an, injection volume of 100 ul, the biosensor has linear range of 7-150 mg l-1 glucose, a sensitivity of 3.8 nA mg-1 1 cm2, and a precision of 2% at 10 mg l-1. Uric acid, xanthine and hypoxanthine at 10 and 1000 mg l-1 do not cause significant error relative to 100 mg l-1 glucose. Ascorbic acid at 100 mg l-1 causes 10-14% deviations- Dilute blood samples showed average recovery rate of 95%. Thus this model biosensor is precise, fairly senstitive and accurate.

Applications of analytical techniques to clinical practice : assessment of chemical changes in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia following methotrexate administration
(Univerzita Pardubice, 2006) Miketová, Petra; Moore, Ida M. (Ki); Hockenbery, Marilyn; Khailová, Ludmila; Jelínek, David; Kernag, Casey; Schram, Karl H.; Hutter, John; Kaemingk, Kristine L
The application of the following methods was described for the purpose of exploration of different cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers related to the cognitive impairment in children suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia and receiving methotrexate as part of the treatment regimen: gas chromatography/mass spectrometry was employed to measure the levels of homovanillic acid and vanilmandelic acid: twodimensional electrophoresis was used to find the changes in protein profiles present in cererebrospinal fluid: and high performance liquid chromatography was utilized to measure the levels of cerebrospinal fluid ceramides. The overall goal of this project was to utilize different analytical techniques in order to monitor chemical changes in cerebrospinal fluid associated wuth the administered amount of methotrexate.

Conditions of preparation and their influence on resulting pigment colours
(Univerzita Pardubice, 2006) Javůrek, Milan; Šulcová, Petra; Trojan, Miroslav
Inorganic mixture pigments are prepared by reaction in solid phase at various temperatures of calcination. We tested trichromatic coordinates of these productsvs. temperature. These curves are deformed. Data was analysed by ANOVA statistical method and show that reaction conditions are in interaction. The interaction may be smaller by addition of crystallization agents or another change of reaction conditions.

Preparation of nanostructured energetic materials by sol-gel technology
(Univerzita Pardubice, 2006) Holub, Petr; Vávra, Pavel
The conditions have been experimentally specified for formation of a xerogel of nano-structured energetic materials by the sol-gel method. Using an example of the system of resorcinol-formaldehyde and ammonium perchlorate, the limiting factors for the formation of nano-particles were found to include: the water content in the primary sol, the solubility of ammonium perchlorate, and the rate of drying of the gel formed. It has been found that increased temperature results in distinct shortening of the time of formation of the gel.

Contribution to detonation ability of explosives
    (Univerzita Pardubice, 2006) Vávra, Pavel
By investigating a set of 40 substances, a possibility has been shown of estimate of their detonation ability from the calculated detonation energy and oxygen balance. The calculations have shown that substances with detonation energies below 3 kJ cm-1 will probably be able to detonate only if their geometry exceeds the critical diameter, or the detontion will fail at all. Also discussed are the effects of density and initiation pressure.

Environmental management accounting : information support of company management
(Univerzita Pardubice, 2006) Hyršlová, Jaroslava; Špaček, Ladislav; Hájek, Miroslav
The decision-making tasks in a company require high quality information support. Under the conversion to the sustainable development scheme where the behavioural patterns of producers as well as consumers change, and where the approach of companies towards environment has a direct influence on the company's prosperity, environmental management accounting becomes a substantial tool for the support of decision-making processes - namely that component of the environmental accounting system which is primarily focused on meeting the information demands of the management. This paper focuses on the information demands of the management in the field of environmental performance and its influence on the company's economic performance.

Separation and identification of some derivatised diterpenes and triterpenes in Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) by gas chromatography and mass spectrometry
(Univerzita Pardubice, 2006) Islamčević-Razboršek, Maša; Vončina, Ernest; Doleček, Valter; Brodnjak-Vončina, Darinka
A rapid analytic method for isolation, separation and determination of some phenolic diterpenes and triterpenes from fresh and dry rosemary leaves (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) has been developed. The components identified in the plant extract were trimethylsilylated derivatives of rosmarinic acid, phenolic diterpenes, carnosol and carnosic acid, pentacyclic triterpenoids, ursolic, oleanolic, betulinic acid and betulin. Experiments were performed to establish the optimum conditions for solvent selection, mode and duration of extraction, derivatisation, and to set chromatographic conditions, as well. The enumerated compounds have numerous similarities in the chemical and pharmacological character. Publications dealing with separation and determination of diterpenes and triterpenes in plant material report many different analytic methods, but most extended are high performance liquid chromatography and thin layer chromatography. The procedures are complicated, since the separation and the determination of terpenic compounds are difficult because of structure similarity. Therefore, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry were used as methods enabling good separation and parallel determination of phenolic diterpenes and triterpenes.
