Abstrakt

For project management to evolve and deliver more successful outcomes, methodologies like IPMA, PMI, and PRINCE2 must critically assess their real-world relevance. Continuous improvement in project delivery should evaluate success from two perspectives: overall project success and the effectiveness of project management. Project success is determined by best practices in planning, organizing, monitoring, and controlling all aspects of a project. Project management success, however, is measured by maturity models (PMMMs), which analyze an organization’s capability, capacity, and preparedness to manage projects effectively. These models serve as standardized tools for measuring and benchmarking maturity levels. A thorough review of the literature and analysis of international methodologies and standards has identified over 80 distinct PMMMs. Given the considerable number of available models, a systematic classification framework has been proposed to facilitate their differentiation. This classification is based on either the specific focus of the models or the underlying methodologies upon which they are founded. By examining these aspects, project management can better adapt and evolve to meet the demands of various domains, ultimately leading to more successful project outcomes.
