Abstrakt
This thesis deals with The Myth of the Wild West in a selection of films from American popular culture. The theoretical part will explain all the necessary theoretical concepts connected to the myth. The thesis will also explain the literary roots of the genre and the typology of the Western. Important character archetypes that are present in this genre will be mentioned as well. Attention will also be given to the critique and consequences of the myth of the Wild West. The analytical section will use this theoretical framework for a specific analysis of the chosen films.
