A person, as a factor in productive labour, represents a significant source of development and is considered an important factor in competitiveness. The number of people living in a certain area reflects its prosperity, but as well, their qualifications and education determine its development. The population in that area is given by the birth rate and spatial movement of the people.. Particular states that passed the transformation process in 90s had problems with the deepening regional differences. It influences the demographic development in the region. The article deals with the analysis of regional disparities in these countries – in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the Slovak Republic. The fundamental determinant of long-term success not only regions but also state is considered competitiveness. The aim of the article is to analyse the competitiveness of regions in Visegrad countries and assesses their demographic situation primarily their potential to attract new workers to the regional labour market. |
