dc.description.abstract |

The presented work deals with the topic of death and dying, especially (though not exclusively) through the optics of engaged anthropology at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. The qualitative empirical research focuses on the personnel of the hospice and on people outside the hospice who have personal or mediated experience with dying or death. The work deals with the historical development and changing attitudes to dying and death and its taboo in modern society.
The main body of the work is built on the perception of death and dying for specific respondents. The key method is observation of the participants and interviews. |
