Emočná inteligencia znamená pre sestru
schopnosť chápať nielen vlastné pocity a reakcie, ale najmä pocity a reakcie svojich pacientov. Cieľom štúdie bolo zistiť rozdiely v úrovni emočnej inteligencie u sestier, ktoré poskytujú
ošetrovateľskú starostlivosť geriatrickým
pacientom. Výskumný súbor tvorili sestry poskytujúce starostlivosť pacientom v štyroch nemocniciach Trnavského regiónu (Dunajská Streda,
Galanta, Skalica, Trnava). Na meranie úrovne emočnej inteligencie boli použité dotazníky (SIT-EMO, SEIS), ktoré reprezentujú súčasné prístupy chápania emočnej inteligencie a dotazník
Emotional self–efficiacy to geriatric patients (ESE-GP) zisťuje globálnu emočnú sebaúčinnosť sestier v interakcii s geriatrickými pacientmi, tvorí ho 15 subškál.
(obdobie dospelosti) v dvoch dimenziách: adaptabilita a asertivita.

Emotional intelligence of nurses is the ability to understand not only their own feelings and reactions, but especially the feelings and reactions of their patients. The aim of the study was to determine the differences in emotional
intelligence of nurses providing nursing care to geriatric patients. The sample consisted of nurses providingn care to patients in four hospitals in the Trnava region (Dunajská Streda,
Galanta, Skalica, Trnava). The questionnaires
SIT-EMO, SEIS and Emotional Self-efficiacy questionnaire to geriatric patients (ESE-GP) were used to measure the level of emotional intelligence. The first two represent the current approaches and understanding of emotional
intelligence and the last one detects global emotional self-efficiacy of nurses interacting with geriatric patients. It consists of 15 subscales. When comparing groups of nurses, we did not find a statistically significant difference (p > 0.05) between the scores of emotional intelligence and the groups of hospitals. We found statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) between the average level of
EI (ESE-GP) of the group of nurses who are in interaction with only geriatric patients and nurses who also interact with the group of younger patients (adults) in two dimensions: adaptability and assertiveness. The nurses from hospitals in the Trnava region, which exclusively
interact with geriatric patients, unlike the other nurses, are more flexible and willing to adjust to new conditions encountered in relation to geriatric patients. They are also direct, sincere and willing to stand firm in their interaction with patients. Educational institutions should attempt to incorporate emotions to the intellectual equipment of future nurses. We recommend to reconsider the training
programs for future nurses and offer courses and training developing their emotional intelligence. |
