Práce pojednává o počátcích šíření buddhismu na západě Evropy, konkrétně pak na našem území. V první části textu je nastíněn vývoj vztahů západního světa a buddhismu v historických etapách od starověku po novověk a komparace křesťanství s buddhismem. Následuje období od 18. století, kdy buddhismus pronikal do Evropy, zvláště na území Velké Británie a Německa a shrnutí hlavních faktorů ovlivňujících příchod buddhismu na Západ. Druhá část textu je věnována příchodu buddhismu na naše území v období před a po 1. světové válce doplněná o prvotní český zájem o východní kultury. Na konci práce je zařazena kapitola o vybraných českých osobnostech, které projevily zájem o buddhismus z řad učenců i vyznavačů a je zde nastíněn jejich pohled a hodnocení buddhismu. |

The work deals with the beginning of Buddhism spreading to Western Europe and more specifically into our country. The first part of the text depicts development of a relationship between western world and Buddhism in historic periods from the ancient era to the modern history and the comparison of Christianity and Buddhism. This is followed by a summary of the major factors which influenced the arrival of Buddhism to the West and its beginning from 18th century when Buddhism spread throughout Europe especially in Great Britain and Germany. The second part of the text is devoted to the arrival of Buddhism to our country in the period before and after the World War I supplemented with the primary Czech interest in eastern civilizations. At the end of the work there is a chapter which deals with chosen Czech public figures that are connected with the beginning of interest in Buddhism among scholars and practitioners and there is an outline of their specific view and appraisal of Buddhism. |
