Abstrakt:
The aim of this thesis is to identify and demonstrate selected literary techniques that Salman Rushdie employs in order to express his attitudes. The thesis introduces Rushdie's literary context and his political stance. Further it is focused on postmodern features of his work, historiographic metafiction and satire. The thesis elaborates on Anglo-Indian writing, respectively on Indian oral narrative and its reflection in Rushdie's writing. The research is based on the novels Shame, Shalimar the clown and the collection of short stories East, West.
