Článekpeer-reviewedpublished version Omezený přístup Statistical Analysis of Ground Clutter from FM Based Passive Radar(Springer, 2019) Bhatta, Abhishek; Pidanič, Jan; Mishra, AmitStatistical characterization of ground clutter information for radar systems is a topic that requires a detailed understanding. In this work, we characterize the ground clutter information from data captured by two Frequency Modulation (FM) based passive radar systems placed at different locations in the Czech Republic. Since the target models are statistically defined by the Swerling models, each of which is based on a particular distribution, we attempted to connect the ground clutter with some of the known distributions. The analysis is performed in three steps. The empirical distribution is fitted with some of the well-known distributions. Two different goodness-of-fit tests (named chi-squared test and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test) are performed on the obtained data by comparing the empirical distribution with the fitted distributions to determine which distribution is the best fit. The observations are analyzed and the results are considered in detail.Konferenční objektpeer-reviewedpostprint Otevřený přístup Bin Picking Success Rate Depending on Sensor Sensitivity(IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), 2019) Doležel, Petr; Pidanič, Jan; Zálabský, Tomáš; Dvořák, MiroslavThe goal of this contribution is to determine correlation between an applied sensor for object registration and the success rate of the bin-picking problem. In most applications of a bin picking problem in industry, the procedure consists of two consecutive steps. The first step provides an initial guess of both position and rotation angle of the object to be registered, while the second one improves the exact pose accuracy, as required in following tasks. The second step can be, among others, implemented by the Iterative Closest Point Algorithm (ICP). It is well known that the ICP algorithm is very sensitive to the initial guess of the position and rotation angle of the object. Another interesting feature, especially from the technician’s point of view, is the sensitivity of the ICP algorithm in relation to the applied sensor. Therefore, one particular bin picking application, involving complex irregular objects, is examined in this paper. Various kinds of sensors for 3D scene reconstruction are employed and, as a result of this contribution, a comprehensive set of relations between sensor quality and the ICP algorithm sensitivity is formulated.Konferenční objektpeer-reviewedpostprint Otevřený přístup Classification of CommSense data using learning algorithms(Institution of Engineering and Technology, 2017) Bhatta, Abhishek; Amit, Kumar Mishra; Pidanič, JanIn our previous work we have shown the design of a Communication based Sensing (CommSense) system. The current work presents analysis of the data captured by a CommSense system. Analysis is performed using Support Vector Machines (SVM) and a Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP) which are commonly used supervised learning algorithms. The predicted results are presented in the form of a confusion matrix and an analysis is presented showing the percentage of error in prediction.Konferenční objektpeer-reviewedpostprint Otevřený přístup The Analysis of Wind Farm Impact in Primary Radar System(University of Indonesia, 2017) Pidanič, Jan; Juryca, Karel; Suhartanto, HeruThe paper deals with problematic of the influence of the wind turbines on the Primary Radar System. A real scenario that includes two wind turbines was chosen for the analysis. A simulator of reflected signals from the wind turbines was developed. In the start of paper, the principle of the developed simulator is described followed by the own analysis. The results from the work will be used for developing of the mitigation techniques for suppression of this influence.Konferenční objektpeer-reviewedpostprint Otevřený přístup The Wind Farm Simulator of Reflected Signals in Primary Radar System(University of Indonesia, 2017) Pidanič, Jan; Juryca, Karel; Suhartanto, HeruThe spreading of the renewable energy especially wind farms, increases possibilities of negative influence on the detection capabilities of primary radar systems. The paper deals with modelling of a simulator for reflected signals from wind farms. The developed simulator enables echo simulation from wind farms, with many variable input parameters, that helps with analysis of influence. The simulator simplifies and speeds up the development of wind farm mitigation techniques, on primary radar systems. The paper describes characterization of the model of the simulator that includes multipath reflection and a brief analysisKonferenční objektpeer-reviewedpostprint Otevřený přístup The Modelling of Wind Turbine Influcence in the Primary Radar Systems(University of Indonesia, 2017) Pidanič, Jan; Juryca, Karel; Suhartanto, HeruWind turbines or wind farms present a major source of renewable energy. The expansion of wind turbines across the world rapidly increases. Unfortunately, for radar systems, wind turbines are a big source of clutter that can negatively influence the behavior of the detection capabilities of radar systems, or even totally “blind” radar systems. The problematic of mitigation of the influence of the wind turbines on radar systems is highly variable and depends on parameters of the wind turbines and radar systems. The main negative parameters of wind turbines are large Radar Cross Sections and Doppler shift spread of reflected signals. For the determination of general mitigation techniques, it is important to make a deep analysis of the different types of scenarios using a developed simulator of reflected signals from a wind turbine. This paper describes developed simulator and wind turbine parameter analysisKonferenční objektpeer-reviewedpostprint Otevřený přístup The radio coverage monitoring by low-cost system based on SDR(Croatian Society Electronics in Marine - ELMAR, 2017) Pidanič, Jan; Valenta, Vojtěch; Juryca, KarelThe paper presents the design of a low-cost radio coverage monitoring system based on software defined radio. The main purpose of monitoring systems is real-time, low-cost measurement of coverage of radio signals in different environments. The monitoring systems are composed from a hardware and software part that is developed in the Matlab system. The main outputs from monitoring systems are a measured spectrum with computed characteristics. The software part includes a data viewer also developed in Matlab. The data viewer is used for projection of measured data in a base map, or received power in a timeline. The monitoring system was tested and evaluated. The measurements for different radio services (FM broadcast, 3G, LTE, DVB-T) are presented.Konferenční objektpeer-reviewedpostprint Otevřený přístup Analysis of DVB-T2 Signal for Exploitation by Passive Coherent Location System(IEEE, 2017) Pidanič, Jan; Juryca, KarelThe paper describes basic analysis and research of actual topics dedicated to exploitation of DVB-T2 transmitters by a Passive Coherent Location system (PCL system). The PCL system is based on bistatic radars. The target detection in bistatic radar is solved by computation of the Cross Ambiguity function. The paper focuses on description of structure and various parameters of the DVB-T2 signal and its influence on the shape of Cross Ambiguity Function.Konferenční objektpeer-reviewedpostprint Omezený přístup On Performance of Filter used for Interference Mitigation between LTE and DVB-T Networks in Digital Dividend Spectrum(Croatian Society Electronics in Marine - ELMAR, 2016) Tekovic, Alberto; Bonefacic, Davor; Nad, Robert; Pidanič, Jan; Němec, ZdeněkThis paper concerns interference mitigation techniques caused by Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile system operating in Digital Dividend into Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial (DVB-T) system. Use of filtering as one of the most effective interference mitigation methods has been investigated. Laboratory measurements have been conducted for several commercially available LTE filters in order to determine their performance while exposed to variable ambient temperature.Konferenční objektpeer-reviewedpostprint Omezený přístup The Analysis of Small RCS Target Detection in Primary Radar System(Croatian Society Electronics in Marine - ELMAR, 2016) Vlasák, Václav; Pidanič, JanThis paper describes the challenges of detecting small-RCS targets using current generation primary radar systems. The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle and drones are representative of small-RCS targets which pose serious safety issues these days. The current generation primary radar systems do not have sufficient detection, resolution and classification capabilities to detect such targets. We present an innovative signal processing chain that would help primary radar systems to detect such low-RCS targets.
