The aim of this thesis is to prove that P.G. Wodehouse's characters represent the English Gentleman class, yet in a concept of a satire and parody. Describing the three crucial periods of the historical and cultural development of this social rank, the specific features are applied on the Victorian Gentleman. The idea of the English gentlemanliness and the concept of P.G. Wodehouse's characters seems to inspired the Czech author Zdeněk Jirotka, whose novel Saturnin is analysed and described in this thesis, too. The short survey from the Friern Barnet School in London shows the opinion about the English Gentleman's existence nowadays.
